Patchwork Quilt & Pillow PDF sewing pattern

Patchwork Quilt & Pillow PDF sewing pattern

The Patchwork Quilt pattern is finally here! Inside you'll find all sorts of information on Patchwork. Bonus project "patchwork Pillow" is included and we're building it an all-new way!  This pattern is a skill-builder for your future quilt makes. There is much more to this pattern than cutting squares.

VIDEO walk-through link inside for the quilt and the pillow.

This pattern has size options and a chart that lets you decide what size square you want to start with and where it will end up. I included my color advice with diagrams showing why certain colors work and certain colors do not work.

We're building the quilt in an ultra-easy way, so you can play with placement easily, no need to worry about working with long rows.

Pom-pom trim is optional.

Prefer a printed pattern? Find that here.

Get a scrappy kit for 260 PRECUT 5" squares to make a 72" sq quilt here.

This is a Netflix-and-Sew pattern! Easy, chill, and low-stress.

Use your scrap bin and BUST THAT STASH! OR purchase 22 FQ, OR 11 half-yard cuts, OR work with 6-7 charm packs.

You can make this REALLY easy on yourself by ordering bundles --- or you can work a little harder and cut up your leftover fabrics from previous projects. The choice is YOURS! (Or get the kit here!)

I super recommend purchasing a 5" square acrylic ruler if you're making the use-your-stash scrappy version.

For the Patchwork Pillow, you can use a fusible grid like I do or piece the squares traditionally. Both ways work.

You will also need an 18" pillow form OR leftover batting and Polyfill to make your own form, I will show you how. Scraps are great for the pillow; we are using 2.5" sq and about a half yard for the back. 😄

SUPPLIES for Patchwork Quilt (5” square patch)

Like I said, this is THE PERFECT pattern to stash-bust, but if you like easy, purchase Charm Packs of already curated fabrics. Most charm packs have 42 swatches, so you’ll need 6 packs + 4 additional squares cut from your stash.

If using FQ, you’ll need 22. If using yardage, use 11 half yard cuts from various fabrics.

I highly recommend using a 5” SQ acrylic ruler if cutting your squares from scraps.

Backing fabric: 4.5 yards if using standard quilting cotton.

Quilt Batting: one package Full Size (90” x 96”) leftovers can be used for pillow project

Binding: 2/3 yard (there will be extra)

Optional 3/4” ball pom pom trim 8 yards

SUPPLIES for PATCHWORK PILLOW

81 (2.5”) SQ of various fabrics for front
3/4 yd back of pillow fabric
Ten Sisters Fusible Grid (2” finished) panel package
18” pillow form or make your own - instructions included using left over quilt batting & Polyfill
Optional 3/4” ball pom pom trim 2.1 yards
