Sewing Zipper Cases is EASY with this PDF download sewing pattern for immediate making.
These cases are quick + easy to sew up making great gifts or selling items. Make cutting a breeze with this acrylic templates set! (Find the acrylic template set with a contrast bottom here.)
I've talked about this pattern many times on live sessions, especially the fact that you can use ANY interfacing you wish to use and it will still work. Here is the latest live session on interfacing if you fancy a quick view.
This pattern has instructions for three sizes, complete with digital drawings and full color photos. Video walk-through support included, as with most of my patterns.

Find the floral vinyl kit here. And the SVG files here.
If just starting, I like the size large the best. It's super functional and the easiest to sew. Plus I think the contrast bottom just POPS on the large!
Approx sizes of finished zipper cases are:
Small - 8"W x 6"H
Medium - 9"W x 7"H
Large - 11"WÂ x 9"H
Materials:Â
Size Small: one fat quarter for exterior and liningÂ
8” zipper
SF101 interfacing 1/2 yd + Pellon 809 1/4 yd
Size Medium: one FQ for exterior, one FQ for lining
9” zipper
SF101 interfacing 3/4 yd + Pellon 809 (or preferred) interfacing 1/4 yd
Size Large: two FQ for exterior, two FQ for lining
11” zipper
SF101 interfacing 1 yd + Pellon 809 1/2 yd
**Contrast bottoms require additional contrast fabric.**
Nylon zipper teeth are easier to sew than metal or plastic teeth. Many zips on the market today have a “metal look” and they are wonderful to sew. All sizes (#3 or #5 for example) will work in this versatile pattern.Â
ORIGINAL pattern published in 2016, updated version in 2021 with pattern pieces and video.
Contrast bottom instructions included.Â
Cover photos include Pink Moonglow Vinyl with Amy Butler quilting cotton. Pink Moonglow vinyl is in the shop - easy to sew especially with my Free Guide for Sewing Vinyl (PDF download in the shop).
All my patterns go through three rounds of testing by varying levels of sewing experience, including beginner to advanced.
I support Makers so you are welcome to sell these in craft shows or your Etsy shop. Please give credit to my pattern, if you tag me I will share your work, thank you! @sewhungryhippieÂ
